Iowa State's Bryce Dejean-Jones was arrested Wednesday night on 3 charges. Dejean-Jones was then suspended for Thursday's game against Iowa, luckily it didn't hurt the Cyclones. Iowa State easily beat their in-state rival, Iowa, 90-75 without their leading scorer. Dejean-Jones has been warned to keep the noise down in the past, this time it got out of hand. The police said that he, roommate and teammate Abdel Naber, Dejean-Jones' brother and a friend from Los Angeles were all in his apartment at the time. An Ames officer, Geoff Huff, told ESPN "Officers smelled burnt marijuana when they arrived at the apartment. We had been working with them in the past because there were several noise complaints." Dejean-Jones was charged with gathering where marijuana is being used, a serious misdemeanor. The charges were later dropped on Thursday but that could've gotten Dejean-Jones into a lot of trouble and he may have been suspended from the team. The charges were dropped because there wasn't enough evidence to determine the defendant committed the defense. Iowa State's coach Fred Hoiberg told reporters that he has talked to Dejean-Jones about the incident and that the game against Iowa would be the only game he will miss for now. It was a big loss for Iowa State, even though they ended up winning big, as he leads the team in PPG with 17.1 and also adds 6.6 RPG and 3.3 APG. Dejean-Jones has had a long journey to get to this point. He began his career at USC, transferred to UNLV and then transferred again to Iowa State this past off-season. This was a huge addition for the Cyclones, which could end up being a huge loss if he keeps getting in trouble. Dejean-Jones has a lot of potential and can help the #14 team in the nation this year. If Dejean-Jones starts to mature and keeps his great play going, this team will be very scary come March and has the potential to go deep into the tournament.
